Hola Duendes Dramáticos!
I’m on vacation in Mexico, so this week there isn’t a long story. Or even a short one.
I look forward to coming back with a good story or two to share.
I’m so glad you’re here (even if I’m not)

A few pix from the trip so far, and there's so much more fun to be had in the coming week!

Escuchar!
80s Deep Cut of the Week! It’s more than a little problematic when heard with 2024 ears, but still also more than a little catchy.
Leer!
Laura Esquivel’s classic about family and duty is as thick and luscious as the best hot chocolate.
Mirar!
“The Book of Life” didn't make as big a mark as Disney’s “Coco,” but I found this animated movie about Dia de los Muertos delightful.
Comer!
A delightful accident resulted in one of my favorite breakfasts!
I left some slices of concha, the not-too-sweet Mexican bread rolls, out overnight and they got hard and crunchy like a biscotti.
I topped ‘em with plain yogurt and sliced bananas. Delicious!
Beber!
On my last trip to Mexico I became addicted to Penafiel Twist, a lime and salt flavor. It’s not easy to find in the US, so if you see some, grab some!
Visita!
Last year I went to San Miguel de Allende and absolutely loved it! From LA or San Francisco, it’s an easy, affordable, and spectacular vacation with so much to do, see and eat!
Coincidentally, I just finished proofreading a Mexican cookbook with a recipe for macarons that uses dried concha. Let me know if you want the recipe!👍
